Event Information

Description

This overnight adventure is designed to be both fun and challenging, all while learning to improve your boating skills.  Whether you are a rank beginner or advance boater, we will challenge you and your group to push the edge of the envelope of your comfort levels .

Check-in will be done at the Bow to Stern Offices, located at Bow to Stern Boating - 290 Blackwell Point Loop Rd, Oriental NC . Please contact the office (252)249-2424 thirty minutes prior to your arrival. Once there, you can park in the spaces directly on the side of the road or in the small parking area next to the sheds.  Wherever you park, please park close together as parking is limited.  We will have a staff member meet you and your group to show you the camping and bathroom facilities as well as answer any other preliminary questions you may have prior to the program start.

Camping Facilities - The camp site is a large grassy area bordered on one side with trees in a quiet waterfront neighborhood. This site provides shelter from the winds and a great place to see the stars. We also have a fire pit available across the road on Bow to Stern Boating property. If you would like to use the pit for your group please bring firewood with you or be prepaired to get some out of the local woods (there is plenty). There is also a grate on top of the pit if you would like to grill food, or simply enjoy fireside time.

Bathroom Facilities -  A single, full bathroom (shower, toilet, and sink) is available 24hrs/day.

What to Bring - Attire should be according to the predicted weather.  Understand that the temperature is always a little cooler on the water and it never hurts to recommend each member of your group bring rain gear, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a water bottle.  All camping gear, along with food and drinks will need to be brought in with your group. We do have outside water access to fill jerrycans.

Most groups arrive the night before and set up camp as soon as they arrive.  The group leaders are in control of any evening programs and activities as well as breakfast the next morning.  After breakfast, usually about 0900, the group moves across the one lane road to Bow to Stern Boating to start the boating adventures.  We will run through a quick introduction, then "how to" instructions, followed by boat preparations, then any last bits of information. After all prep work is complete we head out on the water with instruction and time on the water with our Captains' trained eye one safety and improving skills.  At the end of the morning session, the group will head back in for lunch.  After lunch/morning debrief, it is back out on the water and possibly a trip down the creek towards the bridge.  Around 4pm the group heads back to stow the boats and one more debrief of the day.  Now the focus is dinner and any other evening programs organized by your group leader.  A mid-morning departure the next day is typical.

To maintain proper social distancing between people that need to social distance, Bow to Stern Boating is not responsible for determining who will be on a boat together.  Group leaders will determine "captain and crew members" for boats that have more than one person.  Group leaders must inform Bow to Stern prior to arrival if their group is not capable of having two or more participants on one boat.  This will ensure that we can have enough boats available and provide proper on water supervision.  Each participant will be required to provide their own face covering any time proper social distancing cannot be maintained.

Note: This is a standard program, your group leader may have made special arrangements not included in this information.
